Minecraft comes in two flavours, and for years that quietly split friend groups in half. The Java edition runs on PCs. The Bedrock edition runs on phones, tablets, consoles, and Windows. They're the same game in spirit, but historically they couldn't share a server, which is how you end up with two worlds and nobody in either of them.
Compatible Nebula Java servers can bridge that gap with GeyserMC. Crossplay is optional: the server owner enables it from Settings → Bedrock, and the panel installs the bridge and allocates a Bedrock UDP port.
How it works
GeyserMC translates Bedrock traffic for a Java server; Nebula does not run two editions side by side. Java players connect normally, while Bedrock players use the separate address and UDP port shown after crossplay is active. Nebula supports the bridge on Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Fabric, Velocity, BungeeCord, and Waterfall server software.
Who can join
- Java edition on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Bedrock edition on Android, iOS, and Windows can add the server directly.
- Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch need extra console-specific setup because they do not normally expose the same custom-server field. See the official GeyserMC console guide.
Crossplay is not compatible with every Java server type or mod. GeyserMC supports server-side mods, but mods that require players to install a matching client mod will not work for Bedrock players.
How to connect
From your Nebula dashboard, open your server and you'll see two things: a normal address for Java players, and an address plus a port for Bedrock players. Share whichever each friend needs.
- Java players open Multiplayer, choose Add Server, and paste the address. Done.
- Bedrock players on Android, iOS, or Windows open Play, choose Servers → Add Server, and enter both the Bedrock address and port from the panel.
Before sharing the Bedrock details, make sure crossplay shows Active in the panel. If a player cannot connect, check the address and port separately and use the console-specific instructions where applicable.
